Hexagon Structural Bolting Assemblies have been supplied by KJ Fasteners since the company started trading in June 2006. They have been used extensively where structural engineers have designed for ease of construction avoiding the complication of connections that require pre-loaded bolting assemblies.

The assemblies are supplied in accordance with the dimensional requirements of BS EN ISO 4014/4016 and to the mechanical properties requirements of BS EN ISO 898-1 property class 8.8. The nuts to BS EN ISO 4032 are supplied to the mechanical property requirements of BS EN ISO 898-2 property class 8 or 10 depending upon the surface coating.

Hexagon Structural Fully Threaded Bolting (Setscrews) Assemblies are a fully threaded bolt to BS EN ISO 4017/4018 dimensions and mechanical properties to BS EN ISO 898-1 property class 8.8; these are intended for use in non- preloaded shear and bearing connections. The nuts to BS EN ISO 4032 are supplied to the mechanical property requirements of BS EN ISO 898-2 property class 8 or 10 depending upon the surface coating.

With the changes in the last revision of BS5950, the structural engineer accepts the reduction of shear strength due to the thread form in the shear plane of the joint. The cost of either a small increase in the number of bolts in a connection or an increased bolt diameter being outweighed by the economics of large order quantities, simplified stocking and ease/speed of erection with the limited number of bolt length/diameter combinations required.

These assemblies can be supplied with bolts to property class 10.9 as special orders.

All non-preloaded structural bolting assemblies can be supplied CE marked to BS EN 15048-1.
